The Mechanic is an unlockable work building under the "crafting" sub-category, where citizens forge metal and furniture into machinery. The importance of mechanics stems from the use of machinery, which is a somewhat common building material in advanced buildings and components.
The mechanic has two components, the required Work Bench and optional Auxiliary Station. Each furnace allows 1.2 employees to work in the building, and the auxiliary station adds efficiency to producing machinery, allowing the machinery to be produced faster.
The mechanic is unlocked by unlocking the "Machinery" tech with 3000 knowledge points, or 3600 when including the prerequisite tech "Smithy". This building's performance can also be upgraded with further with unlocks from knowledge points.
