The Throne is the very first building given to the player's settlement when starting a game, acting as a settlement's capital. It must be accessible at all times, otherwise the citizens will be greatly upset and may even wander off far away. The game's starting resources will be inside the Throne's room. When a game begins, the player will have a chance to choose where their settlement's capital is via the world screen, after that's selected, the player can then choose where the Throne will be on the zoomed-in - more detailed area of the land. Thrones can be moved around freely using the "Move Throne" choice in the building menu's infrastructure category.
Moving the Throne only moves the chair and two torches, not the surrounding building, as the building is optional, but still highly recommended for safely encompassing the Throne. This building will always be a 9×8 grand building when the game begins. Moving the Throne doesn't cost any resources, and doesn't require citizens to do anything, meaning that thrones can be moved around instantly.
To move the Throne, click the infrastructure button right of the buildings list button. During a raid, if the enemy reaches the Throne, they will lose much denari and resources.
In-game description
"The Throne is the centre of your city. The spider in the web. Everyone must be able to reach the throne, or else they'll throw a fit... or run around like mindless globdiens in the wild in a desert."
Version history
0.61.0
- New pathfinder mechanics. Twice as fast as the old one. Allows for better performance, better subject pathing, and no more fuss about the throne not being connected. Tested on a 28k settlement, gives a solid x3 speed at laptop cpu. Next patch I'll try to speed it up with threading to maybe get x5-x6 speed at *similar population, Theoretical pop cap at over 100k!
- Division pathing and formation improved. Now able to walk in narrow mazes better, and no more enemies darting for the throne. Performance also greatly increased. This is done in a different thread and has no effect on the settlement.
0.59.0
- Spoils and tribute will go to the throne, if there is no import depot for the resource. Also imports that has had their import depots removed.
0.58.15
- Fixed bugged throne counter in battles.
0.56.0
- Added hotkey for getting to the throne/capitol.
- Level (title). You now increase your level according to your population, which unlocks bonuses and rooms. The throne visually upgrades with these levels.
- Game will now save to "new_city" before you place your throne, allowing you to restart at any time by loading it.
0.55.0
- When placing your throne at the beginning of the game you have the ability to regenerate (button below "place start"). While the general layout will be the same and dirived from the world tiles you picked, minerals, game, and fish stock will be randomly generated once more.
- Immigrants will now walk to the throne and kiss it.
- Krull wins if his men reaches the throne.
