Sithilon Mines are an unlockable, extraction type buildings that allow the extraction of sithilon ore from sithilon ore deposits. Like most other buildings, the mine needs employees to function. Sithilon mines must be built over tiles containing sithilon ore deposits and tiles without said deposits. This mine must be unlocked by spending 2000 knowledge points, and costs a minimum of 3800 (or maximum of 6800) points in total when counting the previous unlocks leading to the unlocking of the mine itself.

Building the mine itself costs no resources, only adding the required storage and optional auxiliary components do.

The process of citizens mining the ore is very slow, but making larger mines (while covering more deposits) and hiring more employees to mine can help combat this. If there's no sithilon ore deposits near your settlement, this building has no purpose, and trading may be the player's only method of obtaining ore.

Sithilon ore has no practical uses, and cannot be smelted into anything like standard ore, but has the highest value in the game (alongside jewelry) which provides a massive advantage in trading, which is the only true use for sithilon ore. A tremendous amount of other resources in the game can be obtained through trading, which is done by giving sithilon ore at an export depot and accumulating high value, which can be used to get other resources in higher-than-normal amounts.

Sithilon ore mines general a lot of noise, so it's best to build them far away from public places if possible.

In-game description

"Mines extract minerals from the ground. Its efficiency is determined by the density of the minerals along with the auxiliary items you place."
