A Guardpost is an unlockable infrastructure building in the law sub-category, where - as the name would imply - citizens hired as guards will patrol areas to dissuade others from breaking the law, or pursue citizens who have committed a crime and bringing them to justice. Each guardpost as a predetermined radius of which guards operate. Unlike most buildings, there are no components. The guardpost only comes in one unchangeable size, being a 6×6 square.

Criminals caught by a guard will then be taken to a court, where a judge will determine the proper punishment. During the night, a fire will be lit in the center of a guardpost, aesthetically providing sufficient light in the area, but not in the same manner that a torch would. Having many guardposts around a settlement will also reduce the damage that riots can cause, although guards can be easily outnumbered by rioting citizens.

Guardposts are unlocked when purchasing the Civics #3 unlock (which includes the dungeon), which costs 100 knowledge points, but costs 200 when including the previous unlocks needed beforehand.
