Meat is one of ten food resources in Songs of Syx. It can be obtained in of four ways: building a hunter outpost, and having citizens wander around and hunt animals, turning cadavers into meat. The second way is building a pasture, which are meant to breed and harvest meat from any inside it. The third way is through cannibalism, which can be done by building a cannibal building, which turns humanoid corpses into meat. This comes at the cost of lowering citizens' happiness due to the unethical nature of the act, but some citizens prefer humanoid meat. The fourth way to get meat is simply trading for it, which is easy due to its very low cost.
All animals and citizens provide meat when killed, albeit different amounts. Animals can provide a secondary resource aside from meat. For example, aurochs provide meat and leather when killed. Because animals provide resources aside from meat, this adds more importance to hunting and building pastures. Because animals can breed in the wild and in pastures, meat can be considered a renewable. Since citizens can keep entering your settlement, they too - and oddly enough - are also a renewable meat source through a cannibal building.
One meat per day is required to feed the cocoons in a Garthimi hatchery. Like any other food, it can be prepared in meals in canteens and eateries.
