Gems are a precious and expensive resource in Songs of Syx. They can be mined from rare gem deposits with the use of gem mines built on top of them, or can be obtained through trading, though their price is rather high. The most prominent use of gems are to make jewelry in a jeweler. Jewelry can greatly improve happiness and self-esteem of the wearer, and the amount of jewelry units allowed per citizen can be chosen by the player.
