A citizen wearing jewelry will boost the happiness and self-esteem of him or her. The amount of jewelry units allocated per citizen can be configured in the happiness GUI. There are two ways of obtaining jewelry: creating it in a jeweler building or through trading.

Jewelry is also very resource-expensive for three reasons: the first reason is that the jeweler building costs cut stone regardless of what building quality is chosen. This means that large amounts of gems and coal must be managed and constantly supplied to keep the jewelry production going.
