The Metal Smelter are refinery buildings where citizens smelt ore into metal, with the help of coal to fuel the furnaces. The importance of smelters stems from the many uses of metal, which is a somewhat common building material in higher-end buildings and components.
The metal smelter has two components, the required furnace and optional auxiliary furnace. Each furnace allows 2 employees to work in the building, and the auxiliary furnace adds efficiency to producing metal, meaning that metal will be produced faster.
Compared to most buildings that produce resources, the amount of coal and ore produces metal in higher numbers than the coal and ore used to make it. For example, roughly 66 coal and ore will create about 100 units of metal. The biggest downside to the smelter is having to manage the income and creation of the both coal and ore to keep sustaining it.
