Modding or mods, which are shortened words for the term modification, is altering the nature of a game's mechanics in some way. Mods are generally made by players and/or fans of a game to enhance and/or change the nature of a game. Though it is not uncommon for the developers of a game to make mods as well. Mods can range from simply adding a new mechanic to the game, to being a complete conversion of a game. Some mods may even fix game-breaking bugs that have not yet been addressed by the game's developers.

An inverse term for a modified game is the word vanilla, which refers to a completely unmodified game. Some mods may be so helpful or so popular that some games may be considered lower in quality or outright unplayable without them.

Mods for Songs of Syx must be placed in the following directory: C:\Users\Main\AppData\Roaming\songsofsyx\mods

Finding mods

There are two places where mods can be downloaded: the mods section of the main site and the Steam Workshop.
