The Distillery is an unlockable refinery building where drinks are made. Fruit, pottery and coal are the resources used in making the drinks. As the name of the building would imply, the drinks are an alcoholic. There are two components to the distillery: the required kettle which adds the ability for 2 employees to work there per placed kettle, and the optional auxiliary kettle which adds efficiency by speeding up the process of drink production.
The importance of distilleries stem from drinks bringing happiness to citizens that drink them. Drinks are mainly served in taverns, and if citizens drink too much of them, they will - as any human could have easily guessed - get them drunk, which will cause them to lay down in a random place attempting to sober up.
The amount of drinks being produced is 53% higher than the fruit used to make it. The pottery and coal costs roughly 1 unit for every 3 fruit used in the process. The building costs 200 knowledge points to unlock. It costs 725 points in total when counting the previous unlocks prior to unlocking the distillery.
