Raids are rushes from enemy citizens that are detrimental to the player's settlement. Raids can be triggered through an in-game timer, or when the player's settlement hits certain population numbers. If a settlement has citizens that are properly trained in combat, as well as having fortifications set up, a raid can be warded off.

Before a raid arrives at a player's settlement, the player will be warned of the incoming raid. The player will also be prompted with two choices, the player can either sacrifice a percentage of their settlement's resources to temporarily keep the enemies at bay, or they can hold on to their resources, but this will trigger the raid to arrive and attack anyone and anything they find within the settlement. If the player has enough well-trained citizens stationed in the location that the enemies are coming from, a raid can be fended off. After a player's victory, any remaining enemies can be enslaved - being forced to work in a player's settlement.

If the player has no form of defending themselves from raids, giving the enemy resources to keep them away will be their only choice until a system of creating combat-capable citizens is put into place.

Raids can be customized before starting a new random game. The frequency of raids has four choices: none, few, some and lots.
